Douglas McArthur "Doug" Sizemore
June 14, 1942 — June 8, 2026
Douglas McArthur "Doug" Sizemore, 83, of Lexington, and widower of Shirley Adams Sizemore passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026. A Clay County native, he was born to the late Frank Sizemore and Nancy Henson Sizemore on June 14, 1942. He was a Baptist Christian. He also served our nation honorably in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Doug graduated from Oneida Baptist Institute, Class of 1960. In 1961, he began his career at Square D. He retired as a supervisor in 2008.
He loved U.K. Basketball. For many years, he volunteered for the Committee of 101.
Doug is survived by his and Shirley’s two sons, Dwayne Douglas (Lee Anne) Sizemore and David Shannon (Jennifer) Sizemore; Dwayne’s children: Morgan, Michael, and Makenzie Sizemore; Dwayne’s stepchildren: Jacob, Josh, Jonathan, and Laura Zuiderhoek; David’s children: Shannon, Jacob, Erica, and Andrew Sizemore; David’s stepdaughter, Lauren Combs; his two sisters, Judy Rose and Brenda “Aunt Pet” Ball; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his loving wife of 36 years, he was preceded in passing by two brothers, Marvin Sizemore and Charles “Uncle Doll” Sizemore.
Doug’s family is going to hold a private celebration of life service.
