MIDWAY-Elizabeth Ann Voigt, 90. Betty Ann, as she was known by family and friends, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Betty Ann was born August 7, 1923 in Lexington, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Lola Reid and Charles F. Voigt, MD. Following the death of her mother, Dr. Voigt married Nell Noland and resided in Midway where he practiced medicine. Betty Ann graduated from Transylvania University where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. During World War II, she attended Vanderbilt University receiving a degree in Nursing. While at Vanderbilt she was a member of U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. Returning to Midway, she was employed as a nurse by Dr. Coleman C. Johnston and Dr. Richard R. Crutcher in Lexington. After retiring as a nurse, she was employed at Parrish Hill Farm. She was a life-long member of Midway Christian Church where she selflessly served the church and the community. Her community involvement included the American Heart Association, Midway Woman's Club, Midway Public Library, Midway Nursing Home Task Force and the Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels. Betty Ann resided the last years of her life at Lexington Country Place where she renewed old friendships and with her congenial personality made many new friends including many members of the staff. Survivors include three cousins, Robert W. Hughes, Lexington; Judy Casey, Plano TX; and Lola Cancila, Palm Coast, FL.
Funeral Information
Funeral 11am Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Midway Christian Church with Rev. Bill McDonald and Rev. Heather McColl officiating. Burial will follow in Midway Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service.
