Hattie Allen Peters

May 18, 1946 — April 12, 2026

Hattie Allen Peters, 79, passed peacefully on April, 12th.  She had a special place in the hearts of her family and friends, she will be truly missed.

She was a woman with a heart full of love, deeply rooted in the place she proudly called home- Varney in Pike County, Kentucky. She cherished the mountains and had many treasured memories of her childhood and attending Johns Creek High School.  After attending Morehead State University, marrying, and moving to Ohio, she never missed an opportunity to return

home. She carried her Southern accent and Kentucky pride with her. Her love for her roots was reflected in her food, music, and the simple joys she held dear.

Hattie is survived by daughter, Kristy (Scott) Hall; sons, Kelly (Corrynn) and Steve Peters; grandchildren, Caleb Hall, Ben Hall, Elizabeth Peters, Olivia Peters and Evelyn Peters; sibling in law, Joe (Jenny) Peters;  nieces and nephew, Susie Williamson, Dale (Patricia) Robinette, Carolyn (Bill) Hurlburt, Robbie (Linda) Allen, Jeff (Jen) Peters and Katherine (Dave) Bentler; extended family, Angela O’Connor (Rick), Natalie Stewart, Ryan Ritz, and many great nieces and nephews .  She is preceded in death by her parents, Ferrell Allen and Bessie (Tobie) Robinette; siblings, Elon (Kelsey) Smith, George (Emogene) Allen, Lois (Landon) Robinette and Donnie (Rose) Allen.

Family was at the center of Hattie’s life. After losing her father at a young age, she formed an especially close bond with her mother—a relationship she treasured deeply. She found joy in being a mother to her daughter and twin sons and maintained strong, loving connections with her siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family. She had a special relationship with her niece Susie as they were more like sisters and shared a lot of life’s moments together.  Above all, her greatest delight came from her six grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as “Bebe” and “Grammy.”

Hattie was a beloved member of her community in Springfield, Ohio, where she lived for nearly 50 years. Known for her outgoing personality, it was often said that she never met a stranger. She had a gift for making others feel seen and valued, taking the time to truly get to know people. She built lasting friendships with neighbors, her church family at Southgate Baptist Church, and members of the Bible study groups she attended over the years.

Her love for reading led her to work at Logos Christian Bookstore for a decade, where she found joy in both her coworkers and the customers she served. Through her welcoming smile, encouraging words, and thoughtful guidance, she created a special ministry—helping others find comfort, inspiration, and meaning through books and gifts.

In her final nine years, Hattie returned to Kentucky, settling in Wilmore to be closer to her family. As she faced significant health challenges, she was comforted by both friends from Springfield and friends from her more recent church life group.  A devoted believer, she loved God deeply, and now rests in His presence—free from pain and suffering, at peace in her heavenly home.

Hattie will be laid to rest in her family cemetery, on the mountain overlooking her childhood home, the place that was so close to her heart. There, surrounded by the beauty she always loved, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace.

A Visitation will be 4pm - 6pm Friday, April 17, 2026 at Clark Legacy Center - Brannon Crossing.  A private burial service will be held in Varney, KY.
