Katherine Sue Brown

Katherine Sue "Kitty" Tracy (Hall) Brown, 79, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, went home to the Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at home in the care of her husband and children, with loving assistance from Hospice services from Bluegrass Care Navigators.

Katherine was born on December 4, 1946, in Williamson, West Virginia, to the late Irene and Bert Tracy. She is survived by her husband, David, and her children: Jon Hall II (Michelle), Stephen Hall, Chad Hall (Nickey), Daniel Hall (Carol), and Jordan Brown. Her daughter, Summere Stewart (Greg), and her sister, Pat Parker (Gordon), also cherish her memory. Katherine's grandchildren include Hunter Stewart (Jessica), Trinity Runyan (Grant), Ava Hall, Ethan Hall, Parker Hall, Cole Hall, Scarlett Brown, Atticus Brown, and Rowan Brown. Additionally, she leaves behind much-loved nieces and nephews. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and her infant daughter, Rena Hall. I believe her favorite quote was "You should try raising four boys," and she would always smile as she said it, then roll her eyes and laugh.

Katherine's life was marked by several significant illnesses that she outlived to be taken by the ravages of Alzheimer's disease. Her resilience came from an inherited tenacity and strong will, which were reinforced by a deep and abiding faith in God and His Son, Jesus. That faith has strengthened many in several churches, where she was a faithful and giving servant throughout her life, and has inspired and encouraged all those who knew and loved her. Truly, no one who ever got to know her failed to love her. For the past twenty-one years, she and David have been active members of Fayette Church of Christ in Lexington. That family of brethren has been very loving and supportive throughout her years of illness and disability.

When Katherine married David, she became part of other extended families. In addition to becoming a loved member of the Brown family, she was adopted into the Paducah Tilghman Class of 1964 and the USS Elmer Montgomery (DE/FF-1082) Veterans Association, where she made friends with everyone she met. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, W. A. Brown, Jr., and her mother-in-law, Marilyn Ross Brown, and aunts, cousins, and far too many classmates to name. These families quickly adopted her with love and friendship that will leave lasting legacies.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 10 am to 12 pm at Clark Legacy Center, Brannon Crossing, 601 E Brannon Rd., Nicholasville, KY 40356, followed by a funeral service at 12 pm. Graveside will follow at 1:30 pm at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6980 Danville Rd., Nicholasville, KY 40356. Active casket bearers will be, Hunter Stewart, Ethan Hall, Parker Hall, Cole Hall, Atticus Brown, Lee Parker, Aaron Parker, Tim Parker, (Trinity Runyan, Ava Hall, Scarlett Brown, Beth Decker, all serving as honorary casket bearers).
