Mark Carlton Gold
September 20, 1950 — April 6, 2026
Mark Carlton Gold, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 6th, 2026 after a valiant seven-year battle against Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on September 20, 1950, in Winchester, Kentucky; son of the late Jack Gold and Betty Hencye Gold. He retired after 38 years at James Motor Company in 2024 and was a member First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky.
Mark will be forever remembered by his soulmate and wife of 28 years, Carolyn Harris Gold; sons Shea Evan Gold and Morgan David Johnston both of Lexington, Kentucky, and siblings Scott (Terri) Gold, Tiffany Sights and many nieces and nephews of Western Kentucky.
He was a graduate of Union County High School and The University of Kentucky.
Mark served in the US Navy for four years during Vietnam aboard the Destroyer USS Luce. His Naval background prepared him for his first career as an Air Traffic Controller. When the controllers went on strike in 1981 they were terminated by the president which opened the door for Mark’s next career in sales.
During his 38 years with Mercedes-Benz he forged many relationships amongst the network of dealers across the nation as well as many dear friends and customers across Kentucky. Upon his retirement he was helping his third generation of customers. Mark never met a stranger and was always happy to help anyone.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
