Marla Kay Morrison Newman Black

Marla Kay Morrison Newman Black, born August 10, 1949 in Hopkinsville, KY to the Reverend GB and Roberta Morrison, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, July 16, 2023. She is survived by her best friend, partner, and husband of 45 years, Roger Black; two daughters, Libby (Joe) Burgtorf, California, and Michele (Martin) Konrad, Germany; two sons, Dr. MT (Nancy) Newman, Maine, and Steve (Pamela) Black, North Carolina; three sisters, Marcia (Ray) Hutto, Alabama, Myra Thompson, Indiana, and Meg (Scott) Fuller, Lexington; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her and cherished her energy and her passion for life, travel, and music. Marla was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Mark Thompson. The family requests no flowers and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Marla’s memory to the American Cancer Society. A private gathering of family and close friends will be held at a later date.
