Larry Gene Shinn

Larry Gene Shinn, born March 19, 1943, quietly passed away on May 6, 2026, at the Portland, Oregon VA Hospital at the age of 83.

Larry was raised in Jefferson, Oregon. His generosity knew no bounds. He was not only generous in life, but also in death as an organ donor. Larry was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle.

He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1964. After his military service, Larry worked at the Albany Plywood Mill for 40 years.

Larry’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, gold panning, metal detecting, and spending time outdoors.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Victoria, and her children, Katherine and Eric; his son, Shannon, and his children, Clarrise, Johnathan, and Joshua; stepson Wayne Baker and his children, Calvin and Dayna; stepdaughter Kimberly and her children, Chris, Kenneth, and Victoria; and stepdaughter Christina and her children, Jovoun and Melissa. He is also survived by his sister, Carol, and brothers, Ronald and Paul, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Melissa; his brother, Dean; and his parents and grandparents.

Larry will have a private burial, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
