Henry Francis Roshak
Jan 16, 1921 — Feb 12, 2019
Henry was born on January 16, 1921 in Tigard, Oregon, to Frank and Veronica Roshak. The youngest of ten children, he was baptized at St. Anthony parish where he continued to be a devout and faith-filled member until his death. He served in the Army during World War 2, spending three years in Germany. On April 12, 1947, he married Clara Drescher and they raised their family on Bull Mountain where he had grown up as a child. He worked in heavy construction, built several houses in Tigard and Lake Grove, and retired after 12 years with the Portland School District. He enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and was an accomplished gardener who loved the outdoors. He was a devoted family man and gave generously of his time and talent, not only to his own family but to the church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent DePaul. He delighted in his busy and active family, and especially enjoyed birthday parties and holiday dinners. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Clara, daughter Mary (Jeff), sons Dennis (Sue), Mark (Claire), Mike (Michelle), Vic, and Kevin (Patti), 13 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, son Robert, and grandson Taylor. His funeral, with a reception following, will be held on March 2nd 11AM, at St. Anthony Church, 9905 SW McKenzie Street, Tigard, OR 97223. Remembrances may be made to The Society of St. Vincent DePaul, in care of the church.
