Robert J Jensen Jr.

Sep 23, 1946 — Apr 1, 2026

Robert (“Bob” or “Rob”) Julius Jensen Jr. was born on September 23, 1946, in Portland, Oregon, the second of seven children and the eldest son of Robert Julius Jensen and Pauline Carson (Brooks) Jensen. He died April 1, 2026, at Kaiser Westside.

Bob graduated from Fernwood Elementary School in 1960 and from U.S. Grant High School in 1964, where he earned four varsity letters in swimming. He attended the University of Oregon, graduating in 1969 with Bachelor of Science degrees in Physics and General Science, and later received an MBA from Portland State University in 1975.

While at Oregon, Bob earned an athletic scholarship as a member of the swimming team. He was an All PAC-8 selection in 1968 and 1969, and a PAC-8 champion and All-American in 1969. During his senior year, he was voted team MVP and served as co-captain. Bob was also a member and chapter officer of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was later inducted into the University of Oregon Athletic Hall of Fame and was a finalist for the 1989 Leo Harris Award, presented annually to a former Oregon letterman in recognition of achievement and service to the university’s athletic department.

Bob’s career began at Jantzen Inc. in 1970, where he served as regional credit manager and later as line planner for the misses’ sportswear division. He joined White Stag Manufacturing Co. in 1979 as action sports procurement manager and later worked for the U.S. Small Business Administration beginning in 1985. At the SBA, he served as a disaster loan officer and later as a business development and opportunity specialist, retiring in 2005. During his tenure, Bob represented the agency for many years on the Minority Business Opportunity Committee, where he also served as chairman and treasurer.

In addition to swimming, Bob loved a variety of sports. He participated in intramural football, basketball, and wrestling while at Oregon, and later participated in Portland City League basketball, softball, and golf. He twice won the Oregon Association of Credit Managers annual golf tournament and was a winner of Jantzen, White Stag, and Portland City League golf tournaments. Beyond athletics, Bob was an avid genealogist and the devoted keeper of his family’s history.

On June 4, 1974, in Portland, Bob married the love of his life, Patricia June Harbour. They shared more than forty-five years together. In retirement, Bob and Pat enjoyed time at their Cannon Beach condominium, where they spent many happy days walking along the shore and exploring nearby forests. Together they traveled to Germany, France, Mexico, Alaska, New Zealand, and Australia. Both were active in the condominium’s homeowners’ association, serving on the board of directors and grounds committee.

Bob was a devoted and ever-present father and husband. He attended every sporting event and activity in which his children participated, remained a steady source of care and guidance throughout their lives, and took loving and dedicated care of Pat for many years as she faced dementia. He also made a point of driving each week to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

In his later years, he was grateful for the companionship and love he shared with partner, Dina Trachta. Together they enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, and cheering on the Portland Thorns.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Sarah Kathleen Jensen; his son, Robert Julius Jensen III; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Harbour and Abigail June Jensen. He is also survived by his sisters Katherine Lundblad, Patricia Jensen, Sarah Haworth, Caroline Moody, and Kirsten Dolan, as well as partner Dina Trachta. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia (Harbour) Jensen; his parents; and his brother Reinhard Siegfried Jensen.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday May 23, 2026 at 3PM at Riverside Golf & Country Club, Portland, Oregon. Interment will take place at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Goldendale, Washington.

His love for his family and his steady, caring presence will be remembered always.
