James Raymond "Jim" Abel, age 77, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, hard work, and devotion to his family.
Born on October 23, 1948, in Oxnard, California, Jim lived a life defined by integrity, kindness, and quiet strength. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1972, including service during the Vietnam War. From 1977 to 1987, he continued a career in Aerospace and lived in Saudi Arabia, where he trained Saudi military personnel on the F-15 fighter aircraft. He later worked on the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, taking great pride in contributing to projects that supported the nation's defense.
Jim had a lifelong passion for gardening. His yard was admired throughout the neighborhood, and friends and neighbors often remarked that he had the most beautiful lawn and garden around. He found joy and peace outdoors, taking great pride in creating a beautiful landscape that reflected his care and dedication.
Above all else, Jim treasured his family. He was a devoted husband, stepfather, and an extraordinary grandfather. His greatest happiness came from spending time with his grandchildren, Brooke and Branden, who brought endless pride and joy to his life. They will forever cherish the memories of his gentle guidance, warm smile, and unwavering love.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Elsie Abel; his cousins, John Abel and Mary Ellen Hall; and his nephew, Jackie Ray Abel.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol Abel; his stepdaughter, Diana Musial (Mark); his brothers, William Abel (Marti) and Jack Abel (Carmen); his beloved grandchildren, Brooke and Branden Musial; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Jim will be remembered for his generosity, his humble spirit, his dedication to his country and family, and the beauty he created everywhere he lived. His memory will continue to bloom in the gardens he nurtured and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
