Janice Renee Reigstad

Janice Renee (Carter) Reigstad passed away peacefully at home on April 30th, 2026, surrounded by her husband and children. She has at long last received her complete and perfect healing in her eternal life with Jesus. 

Janice was born in Federal Way WA on December 7th, 1959, to Mary Louise (Sampson) Carter and Jerry Frederick Carter. Janice grew up loving the outdoors, sports, and playing with the "dirt road" neighborhood kids. She had a love for singing and choir throughout school, as well as hockey. She was on the Federal Way Flyers team as a goalie and had a blast playing and traveling with her team. After school she spent time working as a CNA, and at Weyerhaeuser and Boeing. Her son, Derek, was born June 24th, 1979, and he was her motivation and joy. 

Janice met LaVerne Jeffrey Reigstad on a blind date in April of 1985. The next month they were engaged. They married on August 3rd, 1985, just 4 months after meeting. When you know, you know, since they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary last summer. Their daughter Mary Ellen was born March 31st, 1987. 

Janice excelled as a mom and homemaker. Any school activities, sports, or other events, she was there. Countless hours of driving to school, baseball, scouts, bowling and skating events, and she loved it all. She was an accomplished sewer, gardener, and caregiver. She was also an avid reader, antique collector, and fan of the Seattle Thunderbirds. Her greatest honor was taking care of her parents as they aged. Despite her own declining health in the last 10-15 years, she never stopped extending her generous nature to others. Her Christmas and birthday gifts were epic. Not much brought her more joy than giving to others, both loved ones and charities. 

In Janice's honor, we know she would love if you would: make a donation to your favorite charity, provide a meal or clothes for somebody in need, plant some flowers, say a prayer, and honor your loved ones with your time and care. Those are all things she did with joy. 

Preceding her in death are her parents, Jerry and Mary Carter. She is survived by her husband LaVerne Reigstad, son Derek Reigstad, daughter Mary Johanson (Kevan) as well as siblings Deborah Smith and Jerry "Buzz" Carter and their children. She also leaves behind her 3 treasured grandsons, Caleb Steen (26), Roman Johanson (8), and Simon Johanson (7). 

We will miss her beyond measure but are comforted in knowing there will be a joyous reunion for us all.
