Susan Faulkner Kroutil passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, July 24, 2022, in Venice, Florida. She was born in Arlington, Virginia on April 15, 1946, to Hazel and Alton Faulkner and was raised in Arlington, Virginia. Susan was a loving wife to her husband Michael. She and Michael met when Michael was stationed in Washington, DC. They married April 29, 1977, and had her only son, Ryan Michael in 1979. Susan was an exceptional wife and mother. Susan supported Michael throughout his career in the Navy and his post-military careers. Susan drove Ryan to tennis matches throughout the state of Oklahoma, was active in the PTA at his school, and supported Ryan with everything she did. He was truly the light of her life. Susan and Michael moved to Orange Beach, Alabama after Michael retired from Oklahoma state in 2002. After hurricane Ivan, they moved to Newberry, Florida to be closer to Ryan (and farther away from the coast). When Michael passed in 2009, Susan moved back to Orange Beach, to North Carolina, to Georgia, and finally back to Florida. Susan's wish to be a grandmother was fulfilled in 2015 with the birth of her first grandchild, Benjamin Ryan. Her heart grew fuller when her second grandchild, Samuel, was born in 2017. Susan loved visiting with, and hearing about, her grandchildren. Susan was predeceased by her mother, father, sister, and husband. While her family grieves her loss, they take comfort in knowing that Susan and Michael are together again, listening to Jimmy Buffett. She is survived by her son, Ryan, his wife Emily, and grandchildren, Benjamin and Samuel; her nephews Glen (Tammy) and Jon (Cindy). Services and interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. Arrangements are under the care of Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Florida.
