William “Kent” Swaim, 83, died from complications related to Parkinson’s Disease on August 3, 2022, at Tidewell Hospice House in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was born on November 7, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of William Beauchamp Swaim and Mary Elizabeth (Hedges). “Kent” received his MBA from the University of Oklahoma and served as an officer in the United States Navy. He enjoyed a successful career with Twentieth Century Fox’s Motion Picture and Television Production. Prior to coming to Carolco Studios in Wilmington NC, Kent was Executive in Charge of Production for Hemdale Pictures in Los Angeles. He was a former tennis member of Plantation Golf and Country Club. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, with whom he celebrated 17 years of marriage in January. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Stanley and his wife, Melissa, grandson Tyrwynn Beauchamp Swaim, his daughter Sharon Gay Swaim and her son Joseph, and stepdaughter, Kathryn Rae Gray. A service of remembrance will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 8 at Farley Funeral Home, 265 S Nokomis Avenue, Venice, Florida,34285. Interment will be held immediately afterwards at Venice Memorial Gardens, 1950 Center Road, Venice Florida 34292. Those who wish to remember “Kent” in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s, located at 722 Apex Road, Suite A, Sarasota, FL 34240.
