Mr. Edward Hicks Sr., 85, of Nokomis, Florida passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Edward was born June 13, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York, and was the son of the late Edward and Marretta Hicks. Edward is survived by his daughter Karin Bockleman; son Edward Hicks II; and granddaughters Athena and Calliope Hicks. Edward was a member of Harvest Chapel of Venice. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, gardening, volunteering, and earlier in life, working on automobiles, aircraft and the Space Shuttle program at Kennedy Space Center. Edwards greatest passion in later life was working with the Venice Wildlife Rescue Center rescuing and helping to rehabilitate wounded animals. A graveside service will be held at Venice Memorial Gardens at 11:00 on Tuesday August 23, 2022, followed by a celebration of his life at Harvest Chapel of Venice at 5:00 that evening. Donations should be given to the Venice Wildlife Center in lieu of flowers.
