Linda Jane Turnbull Hubbard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 14th, 2022 at Village On The Isle in Venice, Florida. She passed away peacefully after struggling with Alzheimer’s for several years. She was 77. She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on September 17th, 1944 to the late Frederick Syme Turnbull and Vivian Suggs Turnbull. Linda was a graduate of Girls Preparatory School and earned a Bachelor of Arts from George Peabody College where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She later attended Belmont College in order to get a nursing degree. Linda was devoted to her family, church, and community. She was always active in her church, no matter where she lived. She was president of both the local Christian Women’s Fellowship and Episcopal Christian Women’s Association. Linda also served as both an elder and a deacon, and she served communion regularly to shut-ins with her husband, Tom. She was an avid tennis player and served as president of the board at West Meade Swim & Racquet Club. Linda loved caring for others, and she always enjoyed gathering friends and family around her dining room table for a delicious meal! She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Tom Hubbard of Venice, FL. Together, they loved to travel, read, and play bridge. Linda is also survived by her son, Bud Henderson of Glen Allen, VA, his wife Waverly, and their children Sydney and Ansley; her stepdaughter, Linda Cole of Frederick, MD, and her children Ian (Cecy) and Jennifer (Matthew); her stepson, Peter Hubbard of Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, his wife Diane, and their children Elise (Chris), Emma (Miles), Parker, and Jane; her stepson, John Hubbard of Northville, MI, his wife Barbara, and their children John Jr. and Lauren; her sister, Nancy Fletcher of Hixon, TN, and her sister-in-law, Sue Spademan of White River Junction, Vermont. She is also survived by her beloved niece, nephews, cousins, and eleven great grandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 11:00 am EST at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Venice, Florida. Her ashes will be interred in the Memorial Garden at St. Mark’s immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorials be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 513 Nassau Street South, Venice, FL 34285.
