Doris B. Whitlow died at Heritage Oaks Memory Care Unit on October 24, 2022 in Venice, Florida at the age of 96. She was born October 9, 1926, in Wilcox, Nebraska to Otto and Helena W. (Ziebarth) Scherer. She graduated from Wilcox High School in 1943 and received her B. A. degree in Education from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colorado in 1947. Doris was united in marriage to Donald P. Whitlow September 8, 1946, at Greeley, Colo. They were married for 64 years. To this union two children were born Barbara Jo, and Gary S. Doris and her husband lived in Greeley, Colorado, Hobbs, New Mexico, Wilcox, Nebraska, Campbell, Nebraska, Deshler, Nebraska and Lincoln, Nebraska before moving to Venice, Florida in 1986. During the time in Deshler Doris started a clothing store, D & D Fashions, from 1972 to 1976. She loved bowling, playing cards and doing puzzles. She was a member of Lakeside Lutheran Church in Venice. For a number of years Doris and her husband volunteered their time at the church. Her parents, her sister, June Enkeboll, and her husband, Donald Whitlow preceded her in death. She is survived by her two children, Barbara and her husband Dwight Rice, Huntsville, Alabama, and Gary Whitlow, Venice, Florida: two granddaughters Bobbi J. Curry and Danielle E. Rice and one great granddaughter, Brielle L. Curry. Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church cemetery, Wilcox, Nebraska.
