Bernadette M. “Bernie” Kingsley, age 86, of Venice, Florida, passed away on February 19, 2023. She was born on March 15, 1936 in Elmira, New York. Bernie was a teacher for the Elmira City School district for 35 years and retired in 1991. She wintered in Venice for 30 years and recently moved down full time from Horseheads, NY. Bernie was a member of the Alpha Rho/Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Volunteer reading teacher at Nokomis Elementary School, Social Director at Pinebrook Lake Club, Soaring Eagles Women’s Golf League, Pinebrook Golf League and Volunteer at Venice Art Center. Paul & Bernadette were Medallion Cruisers on Holland American with Julius and Kathy Carozza. Bernie is survived by her husband, Paul; two daughters, Paula Harrison of North Port, Florida, Eileen (Scott) Dean of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Jason (Christina) Dean of Horseheads, NY, Ashley (Tom) Davis of Fairfax Station, VA, Jaclyn (Wade) Poston of Florence, SC, Michael Harrison & Ian Harrison both of North Port, FL; great-grandchildren, Harper, Samuel, Hampton, Eric & Jameson and a sister, Mary Dolores Guerrera. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Cecilia (Bednarek) Love; a brother, Reverend Leon Love; a sister, Barbara Scanlin and inlaws, Fred & Evelyn (Bolt) Kingsley and Robert & Elizabeth (Kingsley) Marsh. A visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 11:30AM-12:30PM with the funeral service to immediately follow.
