On May 2, 2023, Charles E. Sacks, age 89, of Venice Florida left his earthly home to be in the arms of the Most High God. He was born in Chicago, IL. To Leo and Evelyn Sacks on October 29, 1933. Chuck and Barb were high school sweethearts and married in October 1956. After raising their two daughters, retired to Florida in 1999. Our Dad was known for his easy smile, witty sense of humor, funny sayings and his love for his friends, He was a true athlete with amazing records in baseball, enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing with his buddies and a good book was never out of reach, but most of all he will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, Father, Gramps and Great Gramps. He is survived by his daughters Sherry Klopfer of Florida and Debra Vandersteeg (Mark) of Michigan; grandchildren Ryan Vandersteeg, Emily Schoenborn (Patrick) and Heather Thacher (Steve); great grandchildren Ravella Thacher, Katalina Thacher, Austin Thacher and Natalie Schoenborn. Chuck was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Barb Sacks. Our Dad lived his life by the words our Lord Jesus taught us in Matt 25: 34-36: Then the King will say to those on his right, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison, and you came to visit me. Please join our family for a celebration of life service at Lakeside Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 13th at 11:00 AM followed by a time of food and fellowship at Meyer Hall as we continue to celebrate Dad’s life. Interment to follow in the church Memorial Gardens.
