Pat McKeever Nokomis Pat McKeever of Nokomis passed away in the presence of family on July 24, 2023. He was one of six children born in Evans City, Pennsylvania, to Alice (Lucas) and Joseph Floyd McKeever. After graduating from Evans City High School, he earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He married the love of his life, Sylvia (Silvester), in 1958, and they enjoyed 65 wonderful years as husband and wife. Pat worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. for his entire career, which spanned more than three decades. As a career highlight, he had the distinction of opening a division of the company in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Raised in a loving Irish-Catholic home, Pat took great pride in his Catholicism and his Irish heritage. He was an enthusiastic participant at Catholic Mass throughout his life. Retirement enabled him to attend daily Mass, which was a source of joy. He also loved being Irish, and his trip to Ireland was one of many enjoyable vacations that he took with Sylvia. His Irish identity even extended to sports, as he was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame football. Pat loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, gardener, golfer, jogger, and bicyclist. He ran the New York City Marathon at the age of 50 and, several years later, hiked the Inca Trail in Peru, joined in both cases by one of his children. Pat is survived by four children, Susan Brewster of Braintree, MA; William McKeever (and wife Jany) of Sarasota, FL; Julie Gallagher (and husband Joe) of Armonk, NY; and Dan McKeever (and wife Paula) of Attleboro, MA. Pat also leaves seven grandchildren, Patrick Gallagher (and wife Erin), William Brewster, Kevin Gallagher (and wife Caitlin), Andrew Brewster (and wife Burdette), Timothy Gallagher, Katy Gallagher, and Bryan McKeever, as well as three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and five siblings, Joseph, Kathleen, Jim, John, and Rose Anne. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Osprey, on August 12 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for a donation in Pat’s memory to the Academy at Glengary in Sarasota (www.AcademySRQ.org).
