Jennie M. DeGenero,94, a longtime resident of Troy, NY, passed away peacefully in Venice, FL on August 6, 2023. She was born in Cervinara, Italy on February 3,1929 to Filomena Caso Pignuolo and Angelo Pignuolo. The family emigrated to the United States when Jennie was about 2 years old. She began working at a very young age as a piece-work seamstress. Jennie worked throughout her life in food services. On August 29,1948 Jennie married the love of her life, Carrado (Min) DeGenero. They began their lives together and were blessed with three sons and a daughter. Jennie ran a very warm and welcoming household, where her love for family and friends was shown in her delicious food. At her home there was always room and food for family, friends and impromptu drop-ins. These created beautiful times and wonderful memories. Jennie wasn’t always the most outspoken person; instead, she communicated her love and kindness through her wonderful cooking. She was very famous for always making double the amount to ensure that leftovers would be fantastic “parting gifts.” Most of all, she looked forward to having Sunday dinner, when the children and grandchildren would come to visit for the day. Many of us believe Jennie is now cooking in heaven for all her family and friends. In 2001, they moved to Venice, Fl. Where they enjoyed retirement. They were married for 58 wonderful years. Jennie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carrado “Min” DeGenero, son Samuel (Tina) DeGenero, sisters: Josephine Tangredi, Rose Casile, Mary Mamone, Antonia Renna and brothers Dominic and Frank Pignuolo. She is survived by her daughter Rose Ann (Paul) Morelli of Venice, FL and sons Dominic (Cindy) DeGenero of Las Vegas, NV and Michael (late Cathy) DeGenero of Schenectady, NY. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Kari (Jeremy) Furtek, Jeffrey (Begona) Morelli, Aimee (Anthony) Wikum, Nicholas (Corrina) DeGenero, Michael (Shannon) DeGenero, Stevie DeGenero, Danielle (Michael) Kwak, and Dominic, Jr.as well as 10 loving great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Farley’s Funeral Home, Venice, FL. A funeral mass will be held at St. Michael The Archangel Church,175 Williams Road, Troy NY, on Tuesday, Sept.12,2023, at 9:30 AM. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery,79 Brunswick Road, Troy, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital (stjude.org)
