Thomas Norville Hubbard Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 10th, 2023 at the Village On The Isle in Venice, Florida. He passed away peacefully; he was 96. Tom was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 13th, 1927 to the late Thomas Norville Hubbard Sr. and Elise Harlan Spaulding. Tom was a graduate of Michigan State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering degree from the College of Engineering, and where he was a member of the Psi Upsilon fraternity. With his Civil Engineering degree, Tom was proudly involved with working on and Project Managing many important building projects: Seaholm High School (Birmingham, MI), Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit, MI), Metro Center (Nashville, TN), People’s Drugstore distribution center (Fredericksburg, VA), HEIL Quaker Company distribution center (Nashville, TN), Service Merchandise office building (Pittsburg, PA), his favorite the Tennessee Aquarium (Chattanooga, TN), and Saint Thomas Hospital (Nashville, TN). Over the course of his life, Tom enjoyed golfing, tennis, skiing, reading, spending time with family, traveling and playing bridge. Tom lived a long full life during which he was a loving and caring father to three children from his first marriage to Susan Louise Johnstone from 1953 until her death in 1996. They lived in Detroit, MI; Birmingham, MI; and Franklin, TN. Tom is survived by his daughter Linda Cole of Frederick, MD, and her children Ian (Cecy) and Jennifer (Matthew); his son, Peter Hubbard of Grosse Pointe Shores, MI, his wife Diane, and their children Elise (Chris), Emma (Miles), Parker, and Jane; his son John Hubbard of Northville, MI, his wife Barbara, and their children John Jr. and Lauren; and his sister, Susan Spademan of White River Junction, VT. He is also survived by his beloved niece, nephews, cousins, and 10 great grandchildren. Tom was also blessed with his second marriage to Linda Turnbull from1997 to her passing in 2022. They lived in Franklin, TN and Venice, FL. Tom is survived by his stepson, Bud Henderson of Glen Allen, VA, his wife Waverly, and their children Sydney and Ansley. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Venice, Florida on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 10:00AM with interment of his ashes to follow. A memorial service will also be held on Saturday, May 4, in Birmingham, MI, at St. James Episcopal Church at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church or to a favorite charity of your choice. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
