In Loving Memory of Janet “Mollie” Margaret Clare Wieser, July 2, 1924 - October 27, 2023. Mollie was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and passed away peacefully in Sarasota, Florida at the age of 99. Family was the most important part of Mollie’s life. She loved unconditionally, and this love was returned to her tenfold. Mollie found joy in the company of her friends and family. Not too long ago she loved playing bridge, discussing books and gardening. In her early years, Mollie enrolled in the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service (“Wrens”) and was stationed in Grenoc, Scotland. She was proud to serve in the last two years of World War II. Her commitment to duty and unwavering resolve exemplified her indomitable spirit. After the war, Mollie met Jack and they were happily married a few years later. Jack was an American, and they moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1953 where they raised their three children: Ginny, John and Wendy. Their marriage lasted 58 years until Jack’s passing in 2011. One of Mollie's greatest pleasures was spending time at her family's cottage in Muskoka, Canada. She cherished the memories she made there and reveled in the beauty of nature and the tranquility of the lakes. For the better part of her life, her summers were spent at the cottage. She took pride in sharing this special place with her growing family, and even spent her 95th birthday surrounded by the ones she loved at her beloved Claremont Cottage. Mollie was warm, extremely kind, funny and generous, and everyone who knew her couldn’t help but smile in her presence. Mollie will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and loyal friend. Mollie was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Wieser, and her brother, John Clare. Mollie is survived by her sister, Virginia Cottingham; her children, Ginny Wieser, John Wieser (Pam), and Wendy Maier (Larry); her grandchildren, Clare Hardy (Stephen), Ginny Conrad (Ben), Geoffrey Lioon, and Sky Parrish (Tabitha); and her great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jett, Eliza, Harrison, and Ella. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at The Venice Presbyterian Church, 825 The Rialto, Venice, FL. A reception will follow. The family has requested donations to the Tidewell Foundation for the wonderful care Mollie received at the Sarasota Hospice House. Gifts can be made online at https://tidewellfoundation.org/donate or by mail to 3550 S. Tamiami Trail Sarasota, FL 34239. Please also consider a donation to The Alzheimer’s Association at http://act.alz.org/goto/molliewieser. Rest in peace, Mollie.
