Mary Louise Kissel, a shining light of love, class, and elegance, graced this world with her presence for 82 memorable years. On December 14, 2023, she passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come. Born on August 23, 1941, in the Queen City of Cincinnati, Ohio, a daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Thaman) Leugers, Mary Lou’s life was a testament to passion, dedication, and unwavering love for her family, friends and all who came to know her. Mary Lou always exhibited a quiet sophistication in everything she undertook in life. She was that rare individual that only saw the good in everyone and never spoke an unkind word about anyone. In 1960, Mary Lou embarked on a new chapter in her life by marrying the one love of her life, William Kissel. Their life together was a testament to mutual respect, shared adventures, building a business and reciprocating love. Together they raised 5 wonderful children, Kathy (Michael) McQueen, Bill, Bob (Jenny), Tom (Bonnie) and Julie (Chris) Will, who in turn blessed them with 10 cherished grandchildren: Brittany, Nick, Zach, Bill, Alex, Jacob, Joelle, Andrew, Adam and Charlie, along with 5 great grandchildren: Evan, Avery, Avelyn, Bodhi, and Bryce. Mary Lou’s family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them creating lasting memories and traditions that will endure throughout the generations. Besides her parents, Mary Lou was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Ann Uhlhorn and her brothers James and Bernard “Bucky” Leugers. Mary Lou was a devout Catholic and regularly attended Mass with her husband, Bill. Mary Lou’s Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 425 S. Tamiami Trail, Osprey, FL. A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held from 12:00–3:00 at Mission Valley Country Club, 1851 Mission Valley Boulevard, Nokomis FL. Care was entrusted to Farley Funeral Home, Venice, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
