JoAn Sutherlin passed peacefully on January 7, 2024 at the age of 94. She will be greeted by her husband, C. Robert Sutherlin, her son, James Carter Mason, and her daughter, Holli Elizabeth Knoop. She is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Kevin) Karzin, and her bonus children, Steve Sutherlin, Beth Boardman, Ted Sutherlin and Nannette Champagne. Her grandchildren, Jason Nadler, Sara Jackson, Jennifer Seyfert, Jessica Swann, and her bonus grandchildren Elizabeth Neese, William Sutherlin, Kristen Robinson, Kevin Karzin Jr., Daniel, Amy, Rebecca and Timothy. And many great grandchildren She was born in Philadelphia on September 4, 1929. She made her way to Milwaukee where she raised her family. With the children all grown, she moved to the Chicago area to work for Bally Midway where she worked licensing and marketing the Pac Man brand. She married Bob in 1982 and they lived in Naperville for several years eventually making their way to Florida. They were long time members of Emmanual Lutheran Church and she was very active in PEO along with various committees at Jacaranda Trace, her final home. The family would like to thank the staff at Jacaranda Trace who took such good care of her during her final months. We have all benefitted from her wisdom, wit, and her love of jazz. She will be missed and fondly remembered. Service will be held Monday, February 19 at Farley Funeral Home in Venice, and Interment will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens.
