Carolyn Aschliman Stephens was born on February 24, 1937 in Archibald, Ohio and passed away on February 1, 2024 in Nokomis, Florida. She is survived by her husband, Jim Stephens of Venice; her son and granddaughter, Brett Stephens of Nokomis and Cori of Charlotte, North Carolina; and her daughter, Stacy Heller of Indianapolis, Indiana; and one sister, Betty Lambright, of Goshen, Indiana. Carolyn was called by her Lord and Savior after living her best life. Anyone blessed enough to have been touched by her grace, care and compassion would agree that she remains one of God’s greatest accomplishments. She tirelessly served Him with her gifts, prayers and support of family, friends and strangers alike. As a faithful servant, she was an accomplished pianist, filling her days and the joyful ears of thousands who attended church services, special events and the regular weekly chamber recitals she sat in with her beloved musical friends. While ministering to shut-ins and seniors with failing health, she was also the baseball basketball soccer mom, dinner party hostess, faithful wife and devoted breadwinner doing part and full time administrative jobs. ‘Ash’ spoke Latin, took Gregg shorthand and placed all lunch orders for her patrons at the Olympia Cafe in Goshen, Indiana from memory. Carolyn had command of the English language, as well. Over the years she enjoyed crossword puzzles, Words With Friends, Wordl and played a fiercely competitive game of Scrabble with family members during holiday celebrations. It was on a blind date in Kansas City, Missouri that sparked a courtship that lead to her wonderful family. Jimmie and Carolyn would be married for over 64 years, sharing a life that included family vacations, world travel and family celebrations. Her favorite Bible verse: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me….. God’s Kingdom is lined with Angels and Carolyn is among them. She will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service at the Venice Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden for family, friends and her extended church family will be held April 6, 2024 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Tidewell Hospice.
