Salvatore J. Rand, Ph.D., age 90, of Osprey, FL, passed away on April 9, 2024. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph Rand and Margaret Santariello. He moved to Florida over 30 years ago from Hopewell Junction, NY, settling in Osprey 3 years ago. Sal will always be remembered as a family-first person, with boundless love for his wife, their 5 children, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great- grandchildren. Sal was predeceased six weeks by his wife Agnes Renee Rand. Surviving family members include children Mary Connelly (Mark), Cathy Rand, Jeanne Ismail, Joseph Rand (Debby), and John Rand (Jenny). He is also survived by his brother Richard (Linda), sister-in-laws Marsha and Marguerite. Sal was retired from Texaco R&D where he directed the Fuels Test Laboratory. Author of several technical publications, Sal was a 60 year member of the American Chemical Society and an ASTM International Fellow. He earned a doctorate in physical chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University. A memorial remembrance celebration will be held at Seaside Springs on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 3:00 to 4:30pm. To remember Sal, the family asks that you perform a random act of kindness
