Karen Lea Ferreira
Karen Lea Ferreira, age 65, passed away on May 13, 2024. She was born Dec 1, 1958 and grew up in a loving home in Green Mountain Falls, Co with her parents Eugene and Doris Pierson and her two brothers, Michael and Edward. She graduated from Manitou Springs High School in 1976. She went on to study Communications and Psychology at the University of Colorado Springs. In 1982 she met her husband David Ferreira, becoming life partners and eventually getting married Sept 26, 1992.
After university and still undecided in her career path, she started Radiology school, becoming an xray technologist for Memorial Hospital. She later went through their MRI training program continuing to work for Memorial. She went on to accept a position as a supervisor and remained working there until she retired.
Karen was a beautiful, loving person who was loved by everyone who knew her. She had a generous heart, beautiful smile and a contagious giggle. She was a lover of life and new experiences. She enjoyed boating, water skiing, riding her motorcycle, long walks, working on cars, traveling to new places, going to the beach, and sun bathing. Her favorite times were sharing interests and hobbies with her dear friend, Kim Colatriano. Karen and Dave’s trips to Ute Reservoir in New Mexico, where they spent a great deal of time boating and visiting with special friends, Genny and Gary Kindred were also favorite times of theirs. Karen’s greatest joy was her canine companions, always bringing a smile to her face.
Karen is survived by her brothers, Michael Pierson, Edward (Tamika) Pierson, nephew Samuel, Aunt Elsie Hofbauer, and many treasured and dear friends. She is preceded in death by parents, Eugene and Doris Pierson, husband David Ferreira, sister-in-law Yvonne Pierson, and Uncle Gene Hofbauer (having recently passed).
The Celebration of life will be held at 2:00PM, Monday June 10th at All Veterans Funeral & Cremation, 1020 E Fillmore St. Colorado Springs, CO .
