Randy Gene Bullock was born on March 22nd, 1958, in Wadena, Minnesota to his parents Marian (Veden) Bullock and Adelbert (Del) Bullock.
He graduated from Jamestown Highschool in 1976 and then attended NDSU, where he earned a BS in Mathematics. He then went on to teach Calculus at the University of Wisconsin while earning his master's degree there.
He was always reaching for more, so decided to relocate to Boulder, Colorado to pursue his at PhD in Mathematics at the university there.
He began working for the National Center for Atmospheric Research for the next 33 years as a software engineer. His interests and accomplishments there included complex programs for map projections, computational geometry, and multi-dimensional forecast evaluation. To his coworkers, Randy was as much tutor and quirky uncle as colleague. He cared about people and was a patient and undaunted teacher. However difficult the problem, he would help solve it.
Randy would joke that his favorite "sport" was reading. He loved to read from a very young age and his love for reading blossomed into a library of books that graced his home.
Randy was an amazing self-taught guitarist who loved to share his talent with those close to him, but would shy away from the spotlight of performing for any large groups.
He had a strong faith and loved to participate in small weekly Bible studies. He found peace and companionship as a member of the Valmont Presbyterian Church in Boulder. Randy is preceded in death by his grandparents Leslie and Carma Bullock (Bigfork Minnesota) and Percy and Jessie Veden (Wadena, Minnesota), his parents Del and Marian Bullock (Jamestown, ND).
Randy is survived by his sister, Connie Bullock, Elbow Lake Minnesota, a nieces Darby Bullock Elbow Lake, Minnesota and Cori (Greenstein) Reichenberg (Husband Josh) from Hazen, North Dakota, nephew Jacob Greenstein and his children Noah and Kaden, West Fargo North Dakota.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Valmont Presbyterian Church on Monday, June 3rd at 9:30 am.
