Rose Anne Mendenhall passed away May 21, 2024, in Olympia, Washington. She was born April 4, 1960, to Wilford Joseph Schaldenbrand and Elizabeth Ann Schaldenbrand in Detroit, Michigan. She had been a resident of Lacey, Washington, for 26 years and previously lived in Farmington, Michigan.
Rose married Michael Mendenhall on September 7, 1979, in Farmington, Michigan. She earned a Masters in Education degree and was a Resource Teacher at North Thurston High School.
She was the most welcoming and warm person you could meet. A mother figure to many, she was kind, compassionate and patient beyond measure. She loved her Lord Jesus with all her heart. “We rejoice for her at the same time as we grieve our greatest loss. She left a legacy of love and prayer that will last into eternity.”
Rose loved art, education, gardening, chickens, needle arts, and investing in her kids, grandkids, and community. She was an Area Coordinator for Operation Christmas Child and served faithfully at Calvary North Thurston.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Mendenhall; three sons-in-love, Kyle Van Tine, Justin Johnson, and Evan Johnson; daughters, Crystal Van Tine, Melissa Johnson, and Jessica Johnson; seven grandchildren; parents, Wilford and Elizabeth Schaldenbrand; brother, Christopher Schaldenbrand; and sisters, Sherri Dent and Pam Spilde. She was predeceased by her sister, Bonnie Yeo.
Services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at Calvary North Thurston, 4706 Park Center Ave. NE, Lacey, WA 98503.
