Frieda Elizabeth Kautz, Bloomer, Anderson, Borth was born in Port Angeles, Washington on February 15, 1921 to German (Volga Deutsch) immigrant parents JB and Marie Schlegel Kautz. She passed away in Weiser on May 28, 2024 at the age of 103.

She lived many places, but lived most of her life in Weiser, Idaho.  This incredible woman had many accomplishments.  As a young woman, when she wanted a house of her own, her husband suggested she use one of the fields to grow sugar beets to pay for the construction.  She built her house on the Weiser Flat mostly by herself. After harvesting her beets and working on her house, plus doing her farm chores, she would go to town and play softball on a woman’s league.

She was an accomplished bowler, winning many awards in statewide competitions.  She was a talented golfer and well known at Rollings Hills Golf Course, where she made a couple “holes in one” and her name remains on several plaques.

She enjoyed worldwide travel, visiting Europe and Asia with friends.  She enjoyed family dinners with the huge Kautz family.  She lived independently for many years growing a large vegetable garden canning and preserving the bounty.  She was a long-term supporter of Friends of the Library and Friends of the Hospital in Weiser. She also volunteered for years at the Weiser Old Time Fiddlers Festival.  She was an avid reader devouring several books per week.  Frieda was a gifted musician playing a large repertoire of songs on her accordion. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and was among the first congregation of the current church in Weiser.

She entered the Cottages of Weiser in 2011 making friends with other residents and the caring staff. And she appreciated the help and loving care from her niece Shelley Kautz Anderson.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Albert Bloomer, Ford Anderson and EJ (Al) Borth, her brothers Jake, Ben, Herman, Don, Reuben and Harold Kautz. And her sisters Dorothy Wright and Helen Sharp.  She is survived by many, many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the Cottages of Weiser for their loving care of Frieda over the past 13 years.  And a well deserved thanks to Trudy at White Oaks Hospice for her compassionate care over the past 13 days.

Frieda requested a graveside funeral which will be held Saturday, June 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Rosedale Cemetery in Payette, Idaho. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Weiser Public Library.

We Entrusted Frieda Borth's Care To

Thomason Funeral Home

For more than 100 years, the Thomason Funeral Home has worked to help the Weiser community heal after loss. We help families plan funerals, cremation services, and celebration of life services. Our story began in 1910 when Lloyd Northam opened the doors at the site now occupied by the current Weiser Elk’s Lodge. Since then, the business has had several names, partnerships, and owners. Among them was Dale Thomason, our namesake, who began working at the funeral home in the mid-1940s and purchased the home as a family business to run with his son. At Thomason, we focus on helping your family with personalized care. We do everything we can to provide professional, compassionate support to every family that trusts us with their funeral arrangements. Along with our sister location in Ontario, Oregon, we help Treasure Valley families connect, honor, and remember their loved ones....
