Art Toy (Arthur John Toy, Jr.), 86, of Plymouth CA passed away at home on May 6, 2024. Art grew grapes and raised sheep at Indian Creek Ranch, served on the county water board and many other community organizations. He came to Amador County after a career as a physicist, retiring as head of the Hazards Control division of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Art's friends and family will always treasure the many magical meals resulting from Art's curiosity and creativity, and the accompanying long and deep conversations on every imaginable topic. Everything good he discovered was good because it could be shared.

Art was married almost 65 years to Bonnie; son to Arthur, Sr. and Alberta Taylor Toy; brother to Stephen (Pat), Chris (Kay), Susan (Marlon) and Carolyn; dad to Michael (Linda), Paula (Bret) and Sam; grandpa to Kelsey, Christopher, Thomas, Jonathan “Juice’ (Julia), Daniel, Ruth (Joseph), and Grace.

No services are planned at this time, but if you would like to cook a meal, tell a story, and raise a glass to Art, that would be beautiful. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah Valley Community Club, PO Box 207, Plymouth, CA 95669; or the Amador County Fair Foundation, General Mercantile Building Fund, PO Box 1072, Plymouth, CA 95669 (amadorfairfoundation.com) Condolences may be sent by visiting www.danerimortuary.com
