"Chicopee, Julien P. Gaudreau, 83, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 13 at Baystate Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Ludlow, August 29, 1927, he was the son of Oscar and Anastacia (Marlowe) Gaudreau and for many years maintained a summer residence in Wilbraham while living in Indian Orchard. He has lived in Chicopee since 1982. He was a graduate of Assumption Preparatory School and UMass Amherst. He and his twin brother, Jules O. Gaudreau Sr., were the co-owners of Gaudreau Brothers Insurance Agency, formerly located in Indian Orchard. A second generation family business, he and his brother ran the agency for 36 years before his retirement in 1988. He was a WWII veteran serving in the United States Navy and later in the Airforce, he served as a reservist for 23 years. Upon discharge in 1975, he had achieved the rank of Major. Julien was also a former Springfield City Councilman and member of the American Legion Post 277 in Indian Orchard. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church and a volunteer at the Wilbraham Senior Center. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 58 years, Edith (Harrington) Gaudreau, along with a son Ronald P. of E. Longmeadow and his fiancé Rosemary Colegrove, and 3 daughters Carol A. Alminas and her husband Al of E. Longmeadow, Barbara J. LaMothe and her husband Edward and Marilyn M. Gaudreau both of Springfield along with his four grandchildren, Steve and Pete Alminas and Julie and Kimberly LaMothe. He also leaves his twin brother Jules O. Gaudreau, Sr. of Wilbraham, in laws, Gertrude Gaudreau of Manchester, CT, Eleanor Miller of Wilbraham, Evelyn Riddle of Belchertown and Helga Harrington of Cape Cod and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Gerard. Funeral services will be Monday, April 18 at 9:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St., (Rte. 20) followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Cecilia's Church, Wilbraham. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to St. Luke's Home Activities Fund, 85 Spring St., Springfield, MA 01105.
