"South Hadley - Henry J. Blanchard, 87, of Helm Street died peacefully with his family by his side, on October 24, 2014, the day after his 87th birthday. He was born October 23, 1927 in Holyoke, the son of Joseph and Albertine (Favreau) Blanchard. Henry worked as a printer for General Offset Printing in Springfield for many years. In his leisure, he enjoyed the Red Sox and spending time with friends at McDonalds. He will be deeply missed by his 2 sons, David Blanchard of South Hadley, and Donald Blanchard and wife Debbie of Holyoke along with his siblings, Rita Corigliano of E. Longmeadow, and Norman Blanchard of South Hadley. He also leaves 5 grandchildren, Bradley, Matthew, Chad, Shaun and Caitlin Blanchard and 4 great grandchildren, Brielle, Jackson, Max and Matthew. Besides his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his wife Jennie Gorecki (1992) and daughter, and daughter Christine Markowski (2013). A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 30 at 10:00 a.m. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church followed by burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Friends may gather at the funeral home for 9:00 a.m. or meet directly at the church. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St, (Rte. 116). Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society for those wishing. "
