"Rita C. (Provost) Bonin, 90, passed away on October 16, 2014 in the Loomis House, surrounded by her family. She was born September 26, 1924 in Holyoke, MA, daughter of Ernest and Lydia (Fournier) Provost. Rita retired in 1988, as a cook from Morgan School in Holyoke. She was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church. She will be deeply missed by five children, Janine Bonin of Chicopee, Bernard Bonin of South Hadley, Cozette Bonin of Chicopee, Denise Davis and Robert Murray of Springfield, and Richard Bonin and wife Kim of Springfield. She also leaves two sisters, Theresa Archambault, Bernadette Boisjolie both of Chicopee and 5 grandsons, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Besides her parents, Rita was preceded in death by husband, Wilfred "Shorty" Bonin and a sister, Eva St. Amand. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at the Loomis House and Baystate VNA & Hospice. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9:00 a.m to follow to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Theresa's Church. Burial will follow in the Precious Blood Cemetery in South Hadley. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home.
