"South Hadley - Leo P. Mailhott, 68, died on July 10, 2017 at the White River Junction VA Medical Center. Born September 6, 1948 in Holyoke, he was the son of the late Leo P. and Claire (Monast) Mailhott of South Hadley. Leo grew up in South Hadley and proudly served in the US Navy during Vietnam, where he received the Vietnam Service Medal and a Bronze Star. He worked for many years for the Town of South Hadley as well as in the construction industry. Leo moved to Florida 20 years ago. Besides his mother, he will be dearly missed by his siblings, Paul Mailhott and his wife Christine of Chicopee, Linda Swenson and husband Roy of Chicopee, Bruce Mailhott and wife Linda of Chicopee, Joann Mailhott of South Hadley, former wife, Sandra (Breault) Mailhott of Chicopee as well as his children, Christine Casey and husband Tim of Brimfield, Ericka Martinez and husband Angel of Chicopee, Staci Kelley and husband David of Enfiled, CT, Branden Mailhott and Travis Mailhott both of FL. Leo also leaves 8 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews along with his special cousin and scuba diving buddy, Joe Mailhott. Besides his father in 2008, Leo was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Mailhott in 1970. Visitation will be Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 9:00 - 11:30 am at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with words of remembrance at 11:30 a..m. Burial will follow with military honors at Precious Blood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the White River Junction VA Medical Center, 163 Veterans Dr, White River Junction, VT 05009. For details, please visit www.beersandstory.com"
