"Holyoke, Alfrieda A. Bojarski, 93, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Wingate at South Hadley with her loving family by her side. Born in Holyoke on July 22, 1921 she was the daughter of Joseph and Magdelena (Stonina) Poprawa. She resided in Holyoke her entire life and was a communicant of the former Mater Dolorosa Church and most recently, Our Lady of the Cross Church. She was very active in the Mater Dolorosa Society, Group 141 of the Polish Women's Alliance. Alfrieda was an accomplished upholsterer, cook, knitter and enjoyed her trips to the casino with the Senior Center. She will be forever missed by her two children, Robert and his wife Carole of Nova Scotia, Canada and Madelene Gay of Belchertown along with her grandchildren, Catharine, Elizabeth, Gary and Gregory and two great grandchildren, Blayze and Isabelle. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Karol Bojarski, in 1986. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 10 at 9:00 a.m. at Beers & story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Cross at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery.
