" Warren “Jerry” Johnson, 64, of Richview Ave., passed away March 5, 2007 after an extended illness. Born September 28, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Warren and Genevieve (Foster) Johnson. He has lived in South Hadley since 1984 and had previously lived in Holyoke. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and received his law degree from Western New England Law School. He served his country in the United States Navy for ten years. While in the military he ran nuclear reactors on various nuclear submarines and was also a navy diver. Warren worked for many years as a lawyer in the Law Department for the City of Holyoke, retiring in 1996 and was a member of the Federal and Massachusetts Bar. In his leisure he enjoyed scuba- diving, hiking, whitewater rafting, taking care of his garden and spending time with his two grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 41 years Carolyn (Henke) Johnson, a daughter Kristen Johnson and her children Jonathan and Kelsey of Fairfield, CT. He also leaves two brothers William Johnson of St. Charles, MO and James Johnson of Florissant, MO. A Memorial service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. (Rte. 116). A calling hour will precede the service from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to the Cancer Care Committee, 30 Locust St., Northampton, MA. "
