"Mary S. Todd, 93, a former resident of South Hadley, died on September 30, 2014 in West Palm Beach, FL. She was born Mary Stewart Sheridan on February 21, 1921, in Birmingham, MI. During World War II, she worked for the Department of the Army in Washington, D.C. At the conclusion of the war, she returned to Michigan, married James F. Todd, her childhood sweetheart, and raised five children. She and her husband left Michigan for Florida in 1972, and from there relocated to South Hadley in 1980, where she remained until 2006 when she returned to Florida. She had a lifelong interest in graphic arts, and painted numerous portraits and landscapes in oil, water color, and other media. During her 26 years in South Hadley, she was an avid bridge player, and was active in community affairs throughout the Pioneer Valley. She was predeceased by her husband, who died in 1993, and by her daughter Kathleen Doyle, of Poland Springs, ME, in 2009. She is survived by her children, Helen Ockenden of Paoli, PA, Stanley Todd, of Drummond Island, MI, Ann Spear, of Holiday, UT, and Susan Carter, of West Palm Beach, FL, as well as by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton Street, South Hadley, on Monday October 6 at 11:00 AM. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33407.
