"Palmer, Eleanore Luvan Hodson, 88, died peacefully on June at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer. Born in Palmer, February 6, 1929, she was the daughter of Frederick James and Esther Luvan (Charles) Hodson. Eleanore was a 1946 graduate of Palmer High School, and a 1948 graduate of Colby Junior College (now Colby Sawyer College) in New London, NH. She worked for 12 years for Walter W. Williams, M.D., a world renowned infertility specialist in Springfield. She worked for 31 years as a Cytologist in the office of Malcolm S. Allan, M.D. Louis C. Clarke, M.D. and Hani N. Haddad, M.D. also of Springfield. Eleanore was a member of St. Paul's Universalist Church and a life member of the American Society of Cytopathology. She was a supporter of the Palmer Public Library. She held an avid interest in geneology, her Charles Ancestry tracing back to 1300s, 9th generation descendant of John Charles of Devon, England, who settled first in Charlestown, MA 1636. John Charles was one of the first settlers in Brimfield, drawing the 4th lot in 17. She was a member of New England Historic Genealogical Society, CT Genealogical Society, Curtis Family Society and Morse /Moss Society. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Jean C. Hodson in 1936. She is survived by a cousin Richard B. Charles and wife Kathryn of St. Petersburg, FL as well as many cousins in GA, ME and England. She would like to acknowledge those who have helped her through the years, especially Terry and Chris. A graveside service will be at the Brimfield Cemetery on Tuesday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m. For those wishing, donations may be made in her memory to Shriner's Hospital, Carew St.,Springfield."
