"BELCHERTOWN – Travis Michael Palermo, 24, passed away Feb. 17, 2011 after a courageous fight with melanoma. His family was by his side. Born May 12, 1986, he was the son of the late Laurie Ann (Reed) of Belchertown and beloved grandson of the late Bernie Reed of Chicopee. He will be deeply missed by his fiancée Amanda Collins (his "snugglebear") of W. Warren, his three siblings Clint Palermo of Belchertown, Lianne Fernandes of South Hadley, and Kurtis Palermo of Charlotte, NC, as well his grandmother Millie Paradysz of Chicopee. Travis grew up in Belchertown and was a 2004 graduate of Belchertown High School. He attended UMass Lowell and was a member of the Air Force Reserve. Travis loved his work as a welder, and was most recently employed at Consolidated Stills and Sterilizers in Boston. He appreciated the little things in life, and cherished his loved ones. Calling hours will be held Tuesday Feb. 22 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Trav's memory to the Travis Palermo Memorial Fund at Country Bank of Belchertown at 21 N. Main Street. Funds will be applied to funeral expenses and contributed to the Beth Israel Melanoma Fund, an organization that generously supported Travis. The family is putting together a collection of pictures. If you have pictures of Travis that you wish to share, please email them at [email protected]"
