"Mary Kathleen (Kathy) Durand, South Hadley It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the family of M. Kathleen (Moore) Durand of South Hadley announces her passing on June 20, 2017. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a cherished friend to many. She will be very much missed by many who loved her dearly. Kathy was born in Springfield, daughter of the late Raymond Moore and Mary (Hodges) Moore. Kathy is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 44 years, Paul Durand, also of South Hadley. She was born and raised in Springfield and lived most of her adult life in South Hadley, where she raised her family. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School in Springfield, MA. Above all else, Kathy was devoted to her family. Her days were filled with the joys of being a devoted wife and mother to three active children. In her later years, she took tremendous pride in spending her days watching her five beloved grandchildren grow up. She leaves her devoted children and grandchildren: Kevin Durand of Cambridge, Mass. and his children Kyle (UMBC) and Kristen (University of FL); her son Brian (Durand) Newcomb and his husband Ben of Wilmington, VT; and her daughter, Kathleen (Durand) Scott and her husband Charles and their children Zachery, Alexis, and Isabelle, all of South Hadley. She leaves behind many dear friends, neighbors, and members of the Moore and Durand families. She was thankful for the many who were especially endearing during the last year of her life. She had two dear friends of over 50 years, Judith Conrad of South Hadley and Carol Bryson of Enfield, who were constant sources of loving friendship to Kathy throughout her life. She also leaves behind her brother, Robert Moore of Springfield, her sister, Colleen Smith of East Longmeadow, and her brother, Joseph Moore of East Longmeadow and many nieces and nephews. She was a devout communicant of St. Patrick's Parish, South Hadley. In addition to raising her family, she was employed by Macy's Inc. for 35 years as a Sales Professional. She was admired for her keen sense of clothing style and unique ability to provide friendly and helpful guidance to her clientele. A wake will be held at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home on Friday, June 23, 2107 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m at St. Patrick's Church, followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley, MA with a memorial luncheon to be held at The Delaney House afterwards. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to: The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield, MA, 575 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104."
