"Chicopee - Karl George Friberg, 84, of the Arbors, passed away on September 18, 2014 in Baystate Medical Center. He was born April 10, 1930 a life long resident of Holyoke, son of Karl B. and Sophia (Liebeck) Friberg. George proudly served his country in the US Marines as a photographer. He retired, after working for over 40 years at Chafee Helliwell Insurance Company in Holyoke as an accountant. George was a avid gardener, coin collector and animal lover. He also enjoyed car and horse races. He will be deeply missed by his sister Carol Carriere of Chicopee, nephew Kevin Cassidy and wife Barbara, niece Linda Landry and husband Gordon and nephew David Cassidy and fiance Cindy LeBlanc. He also leaves many great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Rivest. A Funeral service will be held at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, Monday, September 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Forestdale Cemetery in Holyoke.
