"Holland, Walter J. Gorniak, 64, died on Friday, February 11, 2011 at his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Germany on July 9, 1946, he was the son of John and Stanislawa (Grad) Gorniak. Walter resided in West Hartford, CT for many years before moving to Holland in 1971. He served his country in Korea during the Vietnam War and also served in the Gulf War, retirering from the Air Force Reserves. He was employed for 20 years by Consolidated Freight, retiring in 2001. In his leisure he enjoyed spending time at the ocean, working around his home and time with his family. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 42 years, Margaret (Buck), along with his two children, Kimberly Gorniak and MaryTheresa Hamel and her husband Paul along with their two children, Zachary and Shannon, all of Holland. His mother, Stanislawa and his sister, Danuta Balchan of Marlborough, Ct also survives him. Besides his father, his sister Theresa Roy also predeceased him. Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, February 16 at 8:45 a.m. at Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 No. Main St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 at St. Christopher's Church in Brimfield.
