On Thursday, April 16, 2015, God in His infinite wisdom called from labor to reward, his faithful child, Ella Belle Jackson. Born on September 10, 1929 in Monroe, North Carolina, she was the only daughter to the late Lucy Stack. Ella and her mother, “Ms. Lucy” later relocated to the Washington, DC area where she received her education in the DC Public Schools system and established many long lasting friendships. Ella’s endearing spirit and her infectious smile touched so many lives in so many ways and we are left to treasure her precious memory. “Mother” as many affectionately knew her, would do for others before she did anything for herself. She will be remembered as a loving, caring, source of spiritual strength and direction to many who knew her. She interacted with so many in ways that often left a lasting imprint on the lives that she touched. She was a committed helper in the building in which she lived. You could often see her passing out commodity bags, handing out programs for Sunday service or anything else she was asked to do, without complaining. After attending Sunday service in her building, she also attended and joined New Image Community Baptist Church, “the big church” as she called it, on September 13, 2009, where she loved serving the Lord with her friend and Sister-in-Christ “Linda”. Mother loved doing her puzzle books, reading the bible, talking on the telephone with friends and family and getting her hair done (she loved looking good for church). Mother was also famous for her handmade “biscuits”. If you never had a chance to taste her biscuits – you missed out on the best biscuits in the DC area. Ella leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters Lisa, Carolyn & Kim, and her son Eric, (*Carl and *Rodney preceded her in death); her grandchildren Andre, Ramona, Monica, Michael, Bonita, Sierra, Eric, and Erica (*Stephanie and *Berhan preceded her in death); her great-grandchildren Craig, Marquel, Cortress, Brittany, Bria, Brandy, Tiffany, Jeremiah, Darius, Sophia, and Gregory; her great-great grandchildren Jamel, Halo, MJ, Channing, Kieran and Kerrington; her son-in-law Sidney and daughter-in-law, Janice; and a host of other relatives and friends. Ella’s Memorial Service will be held at New Image Community Baptist Church, 1839 Alabama Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20020 on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.
