HOMYER, Helen – Passed to the heavens with peace and grace on April 12, following a short illness. Helen is survived by daughter Holly of Springfield, VA, son Christopher of Moyock, NC, and grandson Darek. She is also survived by sisters Shirley (Worley) of Collinsville, IL and Margie (Coon) of Belleville, IL, and Brother George Geissert of Belleville, IL. Born and raised in St. Clair County, IL, Helen moved east and dedicated herself to raising her children. Though many challenges confronted her through the years, her dedication to providing a strong home never waivered. Helen took great pride in her children, as well as many of their friends through the years. She made “home” a very warm, welcoming place for all who came. Helen also spent many years growing prize winning African Violets, establishing herself as one of the area’s premier growers and President of the Old Dominion African Violet Society. Later in life, Helen worked many years as an Insurance agent, greeting those she met with a smile, a warm heart, and personal care. Helen touched the lives of so many people. Her warmth and her smile were infectious, and her caring nature will continue to fill the hearts of those that knew and loved her. A visitation and memorial service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held at Advent Funeral Home, 7211 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA on Saturday, April 18 at 12 Noon.
