"Brimfield �Thomas M. Keough, of Brookfield Rd., passed away on January 23, 2011 at the age of 82. He was born on January 21, 1929 in Springfield. He was the son of Irish Immigrants John (Jack) and Winifred (Winnie O'Brien) Keough. He spent his childhood in the Irish Neighborhood known as "Hungry Hill". He attended Springfield Schools where he was a football star. He played hockey and softball for Van Horn Park Leagues. In 1948 he married Edith (Edie) MacKechnie who predeceased him November 19, 2009. Together they built a wonderful family and he will be dearly missed by their sons, Jack and his wife Susan of Holland, Dennis and Julie of Brimfield, Michael and his wife Sheila of Holland, James and Amy of Brimfield, and their daughter Gail and her husband Steven of Holland, 2 grandsons, 8 granddaughters, 5 great-grandchildren, his older brother Patrick Keough and his wife Mary of Springfield as well as sister-in-law Shirley of Ludlow. His younger brother, John Joe, Shirley's husband, predeceased Thomas. Tom worked for forty years in the Wire Industry. He began working at Cheney Bigelow Wire Works when he was 14 yrs. old working his way up to Superintendent. While at Cheney Bigelow he played on their company Softball League. He retired from Holyoke Wire Cloth as Vice-President, in 1984. Tom was an avid sportsman spending his time hunting, fly fishing and raising bird dogs. In 1968, Tom and his family moved to Brimfield to train, breed and race thoroughbred racehorses as owner of TKO Stables. He raced horses throughout New England for thirty years. He was a skilled craftsman and could build and fix anything. Tom spent his senior years training, breeding and racing Homing Pigeons with his friend, Mike. He was a member of the CMC Pigeon club. Tom was a loving husband, father and a true friend. He would help any person who came his way. Services will be held at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home on Monday, Jan 31st at 1:00 p.m. Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 30th from 2-5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brimfield Ambulance Fund, 34 Wales Rd., Brimfield, MA 01010. "
