"Belchertown - Richard M. Cartier, 77, of Pine Valley Plantation, died on January 7, 2011 at his home with his family by his side. Richard was born March 15, 1933 in Chicopee, MA, son of the late Maurice S. and Marie Anna (Rivet) Cartier. Being a veteran of the U.S. Army, Richard served in Korea and Japan. He worked as a screen printer for many years at Chemi-Graphic Inc. and after his retirement went on to work part time at Big Y in Ludlow. While living in Pine Valley, he served on the Board of Directors. He was a friend of Bill W. for 28 years and enjoyed traveling, golfing, the Red Sox, and Patriots. Richard will be missed by his stepson, Ross D. Landers and his wife Judith G. of Bradenton, FL, stepdaughter, Judith G. Landers and her husband David Healey of Ludlow, MA, step grandson, William Scott, and dear friend, Joanne Sowa. Richard also leaves his children, James Cartier, Michael Cartier, and Jacqueline Grub and their mother Theresa Cartier. Richard is also survived by his brother in laws, Vic O'Brien, Kenny Kuenzel, and many nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by wife, Grace (Lemire) Cartier in 2002 as well as sisters, Carol O'Brien and Janet Kuenzel. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. The funeral service will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice. "
