"South Hadley-Carlene F. (Opacki) Allard, 69, passed away July 31, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Worcester MA on October 9, 1944, she was the daughter of Carl and Frances (Trombowicz) Opacki. Carlene lived in S.Hadley since 1988, moving from Millbury, MA and had resided in Anaheim, CA for 19 years. She was an active member of St. Patrick's Church. Carlene was very dedicated to her faith and belonged to the Ladies Guild. She was retired from Combined Insurance. In her leisure, Carlene enjoyed traveling and cruising. Her husband Roland passed away on January 19, 2014. She will be greatly missed by her brother Edward Opacki and wife Linda of Worcester, her sister Lorna Gilchrist of Spencer, nieces and nephews, Amanda Doherty, Courtney Doell, John, Jake and Jesse Gilchrist as well as 4 great nieces and nephews. She leaves many dear friends, including Richard and Janet Rudolph, and her feline companion, Bambino. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Carl. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 6th from 10:30-11:30 at the Beers & Story S.Hadley Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Patrick's Church, 30 Main St., S.Hadley, MA or to the S.Hadley Council on Aging, 45 Dayton St. S.Hadley, MA 01075.
