"Wilbraham, Jean Marion (Sleith) Cooley, 79, of Wilbraham, passed away on August 3, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born June 24, 1935, the daughter of Samuel and Jeanette (Beauchesne) Sleith. She resided in Chicopee for many years and then became a longtime resident of Wilbraham. Jean graduated from Springfield Hospital Nursing School, where she worked and taught. She also worked at Monson Developmental Center, retiring as Chief Hospital Supervisor in 1996 after 20 years. She loved being a nurse and made many life-long friends there. In her leisure, Jean was an avid reader and crossword puzzle aficionado. She enjoyed her annual family vacation to Cape Cod and her many travels in various RVs around the country. She will long be remembered for her strength and wonderful sense of humor. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Bruce, her son Robert and his wife Susan, her son James and his wife Christine, and her daughter Sandra Swain and her husband Michael. She is also survived by her four amazing grandchildren, Stephen and Ryan Cooley and April and Holly Swain. Her grandchildren brought her joy and happiness every day. Jean also leaves her brother Ronald Sleith and his wife Anne of Hampden and her terrific nieces and their families. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Sleith. A private funeral service will be held at Beers and Story Palmer Funeral Home followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery in Wilbraham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Baystate Health Nursing Scholarship Fund, Baystate Health Foundation, 280 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01199. "
