"Belchertown, Gladys M. (Fay) Jenks, 88, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 05, at the Center for Extended Care in Amherst with her family by her side. Born in Belchertown, September 3, 1922, she was the daughter of H. Earl and Cassie (Bush) Fay and was a lifelong resident. Gladys had a love for contributing to the history of Belchertown. She also had a passion for genealogy, bluegrass music, knitting and crocheting. Gladys worked for the Amherst -Pelham Regional School District for 22 years prior to her retirement in 1983. Gladys was the treasurer of Union Church Society, a member of the Ladies Aid Group of Dwight Chapel and was a founding member of the Belchertown Garden Club. Besides her parents, her husband Robert Jenks, Sr., a son Robert Jenks, Jr., her siblings, Wynn, Robert, and Marshall Fay as well as sister Florence Prescott preceded her in death. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Muriel (Melvin) Atwell of Belchertown, sons, Duane ( Carol) of Montague, and Daryl (Patricia) of Chicopee and daughter in law Martha Jenks of S. Deerfield, along with 12 grandchildren , 28 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She also leaves her siblings Earl Fay of Pelham, Carl Fay of Fincastle, VA, and Leila Bennett of Glover, VT and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday, January 10 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home followed by burial in Pelham Valley Cemetery. For those wishing donations may be made in her memory to American Cancer Society or American Heart Assoc. "
